Through this landmark legislation, the state now certifies LGBTQ+-owned businesses via the Treasury’s Division of Revenue Business Certification Program. Once certified, these businesses are designated as LGBTQ+ Business Enterprises (LBEs) and listed on the state’s SAVI (Select Vendor Information) system—a key resource used by municipalities, state agencies, and corporations to identify diverse suppliers for contracting opportunities.
Cavany Foods made history as the first business in New Jersey to receive LBE certification. This milestone was personally recognized by Governor Murphy, who presented the business owner Alejandro Fuenmayor with a signed copy of the bill—now proudly displayed in the Jersey City restaurant as a symbol of progress and inclusion.
